local outreach

We leave the walls of the church to make a difference in the public square as a result of constant and persistent presence in the neighborhood and the city.  We build relationships and present the Gospel by word and deed in everything we do.
The Local Missions & Outreach team works to bridge the church and our neighbors.  We have several initiatives related to investing in schools, the neighborhood, and our local community.  In addition to these long-term relational investments, we do events and one-time programs throughout the year.

A few of our long-term relational investments:  school mentoring and volunteering, Spanish language outreach, monthly H.I.S. dinner at Food & Shelter for Friends, and prayer-walking.
We're gathering items to help keep our neighbors in Norman warm this winter! Come drop them off in the lobby at the Winter Clothing Drive table any Sunday in November.

Here is a list of requested items:
  • Adult (men & women, any size) coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and warm socks
  • Adult (men & women) sleeping bags and blankets
  • Child (preschool-18 year old, boy & girl) coats, hats, gloves
  • Child (preschool-18 year old, boy & girl) any clothing appropriate for winter such as long sleeve shirts, hoodies, jackets, long pants/leggings, socks, underwear, and shoes (tennis shoes or other all-seasons shoes are best)

If you need some help with sizes, colors, or what to buy, you can visit our Amazon Wishlist.  We need more than one of everything in multiple sizes and colors.  The list is meant to help with the types of clothing and other needs.

You can also donate online at antiochnorman.com/give, select Local Missions, and put Winter Gear in the memo line.
